To understand why Stalk- the intimate 1100 foot space that took Dover by storm right before COVID- is widely considered the premiere restaurant in Dover you just need to sit with the owner Nikki. Within the first few minutes she gave us the secret sauce behind the success of the 44 seat powerhouse.

"Everything we serve here is made from scratch, by our hands with our heart and passion, says Nikki. "I treat the restaurant like it's my house and you are my (personal) Guest.. If for any reason we serve (below average) food than excellent service will over come that. We all work hard and are here for the same thing. It's not a job for us, it's more like a benefit."

Nikki is a bit of a rarity in the Dover service industry. She works directly alongside her well-trained staff doing everything from prep until the last meal is served to ensure that her customers "feel special and that something custom was made for me"

The culture and work ethic of Nikki and her team is refreshing and often rare in small business today, but what really separates Stalk is its reputation for delivering some of the most delicious bites in the city. Known for its freshly harvested vegetables & fruits the menu changes seasonally. The Huli Huli steam buns and Farm Beet salad are consistent top-selling items. "There would be riot in the streets" if those went on sabattical. There is something for every type of eater: Small plates, vegetarian options, bold meat entrees & fresh daily seafood.

Bar manager Morgan oversees one of the more underrated cocktail programs around -everything is made with fresh fruit and squeezed citrus. Reservations are strongly recommended and we did learn that you can evern reserve a seat at the bar as long as you call the restaurant directly.

Stalk is open Tuesday and Wednesday 5-9 and Thurs-Saturday they open at 4 offering 15% off appetizers and salads along with draft and wine specials.

"We didn't want to be in Portsmouth at a time when it was a food mecca overpopulated with restaurants," says Nikki. "Dover needed a quality option and we felt like we might have started that trend. We are hearing more and more like we could be something that people see in Portland and Boston."

The BEST North Shore roast beef north of Greenland (nod to Famous, because, well they are famous!). Tender and lean HUGE portion of beef on a perfectly toasted bun. We don't add sauce but we hear it's perfect. Pro tip: Get the steak + cheese. Nobody around beats it. The small cut-up grilled onions make it special for us. Bonus points-their mayo of choice is hard-to-get Mike's Amazing. Mike and his wife Erin and team always do it with a smile. Located right on campus in the heart of Main Street UNH. With the students back this week it's a mouthwatering vibe worth experiencing. Gift card bonus all weekend.

Thanks primarily to GM Kayla Riley and her consistent staff, The Farm remains year-in and year-out the place that gives the love and works toward building customer loyalty. The Farm strives to keep you coming back with an ever-changing array of "things going on". They have been rocking it with LIVE music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The delicious Street Corn and Birria Bowls are a healthier new option and have been the HOTTEST items on the menu for weeks! The weather is supposed to be great this weekend. How many times have you sat on their raise deck on the Cocheco this summer? Now is the time.

After a remodel this past Winter, Christopher's has further upped its game with an expanded menu featuring all the summer BBQ classics. We had the slow roasted babyback ribs this week. Talk about fall-off-the-bone tender! A massive full rack at an affordable price featuring a memorable moonshine sauce. This weekend they are feauting several new specials. The one we are excited to most try is the smoked jalapeno cheddar sausage with housemade pickles. Christopher's offers two unique dining room experiences - but choose the initimate neighbood bar to get a feel for the warmth of this friendly staff. The Chicken Piccata is fantastic.
